Effective Date: June 11, 2026
Overview
collect. is a personal cataloging app for iPhone and iPad, built by Zachary Acker ("developer," "we," "us"). This policy describes what data collect. handles, where it goes, and what we do with it. The short version: we don't collect your data, because your data never reaches us.
Data Storage
All data you enter into collect.: item titles, categories, conditions, custom fields, tags, photos, links, estimated values, and notes, is stored locally on your device using Apple's Core Data framework.
If you enable iCloud Sync in the app's Data settings, your catalog (including photos) syncs across your devices through Apple's CloudKit service. This sync happens between your device and your personal iCloud account. The developer has no access to your iCloud data and receives no copy of it. You can disable iCloud Sync at any time.
App Lock (Optional)
collect. includes an optional App Lock you can enable in Security settings:
- Face ID / Touch ID is handled entirely by Apple's LocalAuthentication framework. collect. never sees, stores, or transmits your biometric data.
- A keyphrase, if you set one, is hashed (SHA-256) and stored only in your device's Keychain. The plain keyphrase is never stored or transmitted.
App Lock is a local, on-device feature only and it doesn't change how your data is stored or synced.
Data We Do Not Collect
We do not collect, transmit, store, or process:
- Personal information of any kind
- Usage analytics or behavioral data
- Crash reports or diagnostics (unless you opt in through Apple's standard system prompt)
- Device identifiers
- Location data
- Photos or media you add to your catalog
- Any content you enter into the app, including item values, notes, and custom fields
collect. has no servers operated by the developer. There is no account system, no login, and no backend.
Third-Party Services
collect. uses no third-party SDKs, advertising networks, analytics platforms, or data brokers. The only external service involved in data handling is iCloud, which is operated by Apple and governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Children's Privacy
collect. does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. Because we collect no data from any user, there is nothing specific to children's data to address.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised effective date. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
